Birthday Celebration

Thank you to the Hawthornes, McDonalds, Moores, Bemowskis, Pastors, and Larron for celebrating my birthday with me. The presents were beautiful, and I especially enjoyed the fellowship. Most of all, I want to thank my husband for making all the arrangements for the wonderful time that we had together.

Birthday Weekend

My wonderful hubby took me to Helen, Georgia for my birthday. It was absolutely beautiful. Clear blue skies all weekend. We had a peaceful weekend enjoying God's beauty.

We stayed at this awesome bed & breakfast in Hiawassee, Georiga, called Henson Cove Place Bed & Breakfast. It may not be much of a looker on the outside, but it is one of our favorite rustic bed & breakfast. Not only is the view from the house amazing, the hospitality and the beautiful new cozy & comfy rooms and breakfast was the best! Ask for the Hideway room, that is our favorite.

We adventured out to the highest point of Georgia, Brasstown Bald. And saw the beautiful waterfalls in Anna Ruby Falls.

If you do ever visit Helen, Georgia, you must visit Nacoochee Grill Restaurant. One of the best restaurants in the Southeast. We had their Smoked Salmon Trout Roasted Corn Chowder Soup, BBQ Duck Quesadilla and Cornmeal Dusted Trout. Every bite was heavenly.

Captain Nippon Meets Bill Browns

The video “Captain Nippon Meets Bill Browns” for The Mighty Sweet was put together in just a few days and shot in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. I’ve been watching The Wire Season 1 recently so you’ll see some inspired shots. The idea was having Jason and Charles play multiple characters in an imaginary illegal candy situation, seen through the eyes of junkies, high ranking sugar enforcement officials, candy dealers and undercover sugar enforcers. So enjoy the video and put that pixie stick down!

Inspiring Story {Updated}

Inspiring Story ... Watch & Listen.

Sick Puppies - All The Same
"And I'll take you for who you are
If you take me for everything"

This inspiring story reminds me of God's love for each one of us. He loves us for who we are and accepts us for who we are. It isn't the reward of his love that motivates me to be like Jesus. It is God's love that motivates me to be like Jesus.

How should we love?

unwritten clip #5 - UNITY

Who has the power to CREATE unity?
(I've gone through the New Testement and looked up all the scriptures that contains the word, unity.)

John 17:20-26
Jesus Prays for All Believers

"My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. "Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world. "Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them."

Romans 15: 1-13 (vs. 5)
May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 4: 1-16
Unity in the Body of Christ

As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope when you were called— one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it. This is why it says: "When he ascended on high, he led captives in his train and gave gifts to men."(What does "he ascended" mean except that he also descended to the lower, earthly regions? He who descended is the very one who ascended higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.) It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

Colossians 3:1-17 (vs 12-14)
Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

QUESTIONS:

  • Before reading these scriptures, who did you think had the power to create unity?
  • Does unity have to be created or has it already been created?
  • Who is considered as part of God's definition of unity?
  • What is our only ability when it comes to unity?
  • What is the purpose of unity?
  • Does these scriptures make you feel more connected with others that you haven't met?

Talk about a wonderful idea for presents...

I've order this photo book from PhotoWorks, to hold my favorite Seattle trip pictures and it is absolutely wonderful. And it cost less then printing all the photos. PhotoWorks allows you to make a photo book with the digital photos that you have taken. The photo book contains a soft or hard cover, designer pages, and several different layouts per page (based on the number of photos per page.) Need ideas for Christmas gifts, just to go to their website www.photoworks.com. Enjoy!

Best Sushi in town!

If you are a sushi lover and live on the southeast side of Birmingham. You gotta go to Ross Bridge's lounge for the best sushi in town. The atmosphere is wonderful, with mahogany wood and low-lighting, live jazz music and an option to order from their downstairs restaurant menu.

This was our second visit to the Ross Bridge lounge. And the sushi just gets better and better. You gotta try it out!

Cutie Jackson

We got to visit little Jackson and proud daddy & mommy this weekend. He is the cutest bulldog fan there is. It was so great visiting our wonderful friends and their new addition. Got to have dinner together, watch a little football and just catch-up. Renee is the only mom that I know that is extremely organized and on top of it with her 11 day old baby... yes, only 11 days. She has gotten her photos on her photo site, the nursery is completed and organized down to every detail (and I do mean every detail... Jackson's clothes are organized by months), she has a daily routine & daily chart of the baby's schedule, and much much more. She is AMAZING! I hope I could be that organized and on top of it when I have children. Well really ... if I could only be that organized and on top it of it now, without kids :) We love you very very much Brent, Renee & little Jackson!

Bodies Exhibition

It was thrilling to attend the Bodies Exhibition in Atlanta, GA. It is amazing to see and acknowledge God's creation... the human body. It displays real human bodies that have been preserved so they do not decay. The viewer were able to see the bones, muscles, organs, blood vessels, nerves, etc. And to be educated on how the human body works together, in the infinite details ... it just brings to light that God is the "Creator" above all.

I'm BACK!

We are back from our 10 day Northwest Family Vacation. It was wonderful. We visited Seattle, San Juan, Vancouver (B.C.) and Victoria Island (B.C.) The weather was perfect, it was sunny & clear. And the temperature was high in the 60s/70s and low in the 40s/50s. Can't get more perfect than that. Especially, when you live in the south.

I want to thank my sister, "Lady of the Van", for driving us all over the place, and for giving us shelter and good eats. P.S. It was a pleasure to finally meet you, Adrian, in person.

I have taken over 300 pictures, so I'm not going to post it on this blog. View my Flickr Photo Blog for more information on the fabulous trip.

{Update: After viewing the pictures, someone asked me if I got a really good camera. Yes, before my trip to the northwest, I purchsed a Nikon P4 which is 8 megapixel digital camera with vibration reduction. And it is the best camera for low lighting. I got a 10% off coupon from Best Buy before the purchase... God knew actually what I needed to purchase the nice camera. I love it!}

Great conversation, music & sushi ... Ross Bridge

Saturday night, we went to Ross Bridge to meet up with Matt & Sara for dinner and music. Matt, It was good to talk to you for 5 minutes (hehe - he had to play the drums, so he had short breaks.) And Duke, thanks for making the awesome sushi ... you have found your true calling. Sara, even though, you won't let me post your photo on my blog, it was great hanging out and catching up. And thanks so much for the delicious chocolate (meow).

New Arrival ... Baby Xander

Xander was born this morning, July 20th, at 5:48 am and weighed 6 lbs 15 oz. and 20 1/4 inches long. Jaxon was in the delivery room to make sure everything was o.k. He is going to be a great big brother. Tara and "Xan" are doing well.

IKEA ... you rule

My husband suggested that we go to the IKEA store while we were in Atlanta this past weekend. What an AWESOME idea, honey! It was our first visit to an IKEA store, and I just LOVE LOVE LOVE everything in the store. And the prices... let me just say WOW! Most of my items that we bought were around a buck. How cool is that?

Usually when I'm entering a large massive store with tons of people, I get overwhelmed and stressed. But the experience was wonderful. The Swedish folks know what they are doing. With the design and direction of the store, it was easy sailing. It was very pleasant!

WARNING: If you do end up visiting the store, make sure you have enough time to eat in their cafeteria and browse their store, probably around 2.5 hours or so. We only had 40 minutes, and whizzed thru it without tasting the yummy food.

3 STATES. 4 CITIES. 1 WEEKEND.

We traveled thru 3 states, stopped at 4 cities, within 1 weekend.

It is a HUGE blessing in life to have friends in your life that are consider as family. Because of the love and closeness we share, it is hard to just call each other friends, we have to call each other family. And with all our friend's (family's) special events in their lives, we traveled, near and far, to celebrate with them in their milestones of life.

1st: Gainesville, Florida

We had to make a stop in Gainesville to see some of our best friends and munchkins. We only got to stay for a couple of hours, but it was wonderful catching up and loving up on each other. We got two wonderful gifts as well. Emily drew me a beautiful drawing of summer, and T.J. drew Richard a picture of them playing basketball togethter, which they were able to do for a short time that evening. We love you guys!

For more details on the Gainseville visit, click here.

2nd: Orlando, Florida

Camryn's adoption was finalized on Tuesday, so it was party time! Chris & Tracy, we are so so HAPPY for you. You have truly received a beautiful blessing from God. We wouldn't have missed the celebration for anything.

For more details on Camryn's Adoption Celebration, click here.

3rd: Marietta, Georgia

Renee, we have shared so many milestones together, from you becoming a disciple to being roomates, to being in each other's wedding, to this special point in your life... having your first baby shower. I can't wait to hold and love up on baby Renee.

For more details on Renee's Baby Shower, click here.

4th: Kennessaw, Georgia

We definitely had to go and visit with Danielle and Aaliyah. Aaliyah has just turned 4 weeks old. Aaliay is a beauty, and Danielle is a "wonderful" mom.

Danielle, you are a beautiful person, inside and out. We know that you will be an awesome mother to Aaliayh. She will inherit your loving heart and radiant spirit.

Thank You Brian for the wonderful lunch at Cypress Inn. We feel so special and priviledged to have great friends, as your family! I'm so glad we got to take this special trip before the new addition comes along. I'm still in for the 12th/13th. :)

Thank you Don, Jennifer, Joey & Meagan for having us over for the "Le Tour de France" party. It was great just hanging out, catching up and chilling. Go George Hincapie.

what an adventurous july 4th weekend

In-laws came into town for the July 4th weekend... it was definitely adventurous. We went canoeing in the Coosa River. It was fun, but not for all. Let's just say my husband couldn't stop laughing at my in-laws tipping over, into the river, a couple of times. It was suppose to be a 4 hour trip, but it became a 5 hour trip. By the end of the trip, we were all extremely tan with the exception of Ryan, who looks like a lobster now. As a conclusion, the family members said that our future summer adventures will be indoors from now on.

This morning, we got a visitor thumping at our door... just kidding. My husband found this cute visitor at our front door this morning when he was leaving for work. What a cutie.

thank God for A/C

Our air conditioner went out for a few days. And now, it is fixed. After this experience, I see how spoiled I am. And I'm blessed to have air conditioning.

Sue, I understand how you and the family feel now... without a/c in Paris. But I'm pretty sure it is hotter because of the pregnancy. Wishing you well and much breeze!

new find ... INSPIRATIONAL

At midweek service tonite, we saw this video "008 - Dust". It was inspirational to the heart and spirit and thought provoking to the mind. Read the description from the video...

"Believing in God is important, but what about God believing in us? Believing that we can actually be the kind of people we were meant to be. People of love, compassion, peace, forgiveness, and hope. People who try to do the right thing all of the time. Who act on the endless opportunities around us every day for good, beauty, and truth. It’s easy for us to sometimes get down on ourselves. To feel “not good enough” or feel like we don’t have what it takes. But maybe if we had more insight into the culture that Jesus grew up in and some of the radical things he did, we’d understand the faith that God has in all of us." - by Rob Bell

The video is a must see. Now, I want to see all 13 videos.

So, now I got a long list of "Art Studio Goodies", that I would like to purchase for my future art studio, which is in development.

  • Solid color and Sparkly Gelly Roll Pens

  • Chipboards

  • Cool papers (rice paper, textured paper, colored paper, etc.)

  • and much much more.

I'm finally joining the digital age

Thanks to my fantastic sister. I have a hand-me-down digital camera to play with. Of course, this is the first digital camera I've ever used. I'm so excited. I'm going to test this camera to see if I would like to get an upgraded snap-and-shot digital camera or a SLR camera. I'll be having fun taking pictures, and you know what that means... photo blog to come!

  • Thanks to Marvel Comics for "X-Men, The Last Stand". It is a great summer blockbuster. If you do decide to see it, make sure you stay through the credits to see a special showing at the end of the credits.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend as well!

Boy... Am I LOST

WOW, can you believe last night's episode of LOST?! What a doozie! It did answer two big questions that we have had.... why the button was so important and who 'HE' is. But with the two answers we got, the more questions we have now...

  • How did Desmond's fiance find him?

  • Is Penny's father associated with Dharma?

  • Why are there all these connections with people from Oceanic Air flight 815 and the people on the island?

    • Libby knows Hugo from the mental institute (probably because she admitted herself after her husband's death).

    • Libby knows Desmond through the coffee shop and giving him of the boat.

    • Desmond knows Jack through the night-training in the arena.

    • Desmond's fiance, Penny, is associated with her father's company that may be associated with Dharma

    • Kelvin saves Desmond on the island.

    • Kelvin recruited Sayid to infilitrate a terrorist in Iraq.

    • Jack knows Anna Lucia through the airport bar.

    • Anna Lucia worked for Jack's father, as a bodyguard.

    • Sewyer had drinks with Jack's father.

    • Eko's brother's plane crashed on the island.

    • Eko's miracle girl's father is the psychic that warned Claire about her baby.

  • Hugo's imaginary friend is named, Dave; and Libby's husband was named, David. And they were both in the same mental institute. Is it the same Dave?

  • Who are the Others, are they part of Dharma?

  • Does Dharma exist anymore, since no one was receiving the data from the Pearl observation hatch?

  • Is 'He'/Henry, the same 'He' that Kelvin was referring to when he found Desmond?

  • What kind of power does 'He'/Henry have, that makes him 'HIM'?

  • Is Desmond, Locke and/or Eko dead? (because the quarantine door flew through the air)

  • Is Kelvin dead? or with the Others?

  • Did the magnetic discharge effect the people on the island and on the boat?

  • With the immunization shots that Desmond, Claire's baby, and the others have been taking, does that protect them from the magnetic discharge?

  • Was Locke healed by the magnetic power of the island?

  • Why did the Others let Walt go, when he is so powerful and it was so obvious, that in season 1, that Walt was the very boy that they wanted?

  • Will Michael and Walt escape or not, since Desmond wasn't able to escape with his boat because of the magnetic pull of the island?

  • or will Michael try to save Jack, Kate & Sawyer because of his guilt?

  • Now we know the island is magnetic, but what helps people to deal with their issues by bringing the dead to life (Jack's father), bringing objects from their past (Kate's horse), healing people of their illness (Locke's legs & Sun's pregnancy), etc.

Over The Hedge ... Thumbs Up

Richard, Del, Heather & I give "Over The Hedge", thumbs up. A movie worth seeing. Confession... I think we laughed more than the kids in the theatre.

Pelham Panthers WIN the Championship... Congrats!

It was bottom of the fifth inning, the last inning of the game, and the Panthers were up 7-2. All they had to do was play one inning of solid defense and the game would be over. But in the matter of a few hits (and a few pint-sized errors), the other team made it 7-6 with two outs and a runner on third. One good swing of the bat and the other team would tie or steal the game from the Panthers, who had had a comfortable lead since the first inning. The ball spun out of the machine and towards the batter. The boy took a chop at the ball and barely made contact, but it sent the ball into the infield. Parents, coaches, players, umpires, even curious by-standers all held their breath as four boys went into motion to decide the 7-8 year-old Pelham League Championship. The batter streaked towards first while the runner started towards home. The Panther "pitcher" (it's machine-pitch after two innings), ran towards the ball scooting across the dirt of the infield. It was his first inning as pitcher this game and he had sailed one over the head of the first baseman earlier in the inning, giving the other team a couple of those four runs. With a quick scoop he picked up the ball and tossed it towards the first baseman, who was stretching out to catch it while keeping his foot on the bag. Just as the batter was about to touch first, the ball landed in the glove of the stretched-out first baseman; the game was over and the championship won! No longer holding their breath, everyone in the park cheered the victors and the second-place team for an exciting ending to the game and the season.

last night... got the chance to rock

Birmingham is a city full of local talents. We have given American Idol three great singers... from Reuben Studdard, Bo Bice to Taylor Hicks. And there is a local band, Downright, that we love. We aren't bias because Matt is a good friend of ours, we honestly love their music because they put their heart and soul into their music. We got the priviledge to see them play last night at Workplay.

Check them out at downrightthesite.com.
