A Story Before Bed - Free Coupon Code

From My Little Sister:

Hillel, Walter and I are incredibly proud to announce our latest creation - A Story Before Bed.

A few years ago my business partner, Hillel tried videotaping his parents reading stories to his young kids. His parents live on the east coast and he wanted his west coast children to have bedtime stories from their grandparents, even when they were far away. The effort was cumbersome, and the results were not great.

Anyone with a webcam and a web browser can choose a book from our library of licensed and digitized high quality children's books, record audio and video of themselves reading that book, and share it with a special child in their lives. We've worked closely with our three launch publishing partners - Immedium, Charlesbridge Publishing, and Bubblegum Books to create a launch library of over 50 books. Our growing library includes over a dozen classics such as The Emperor's New Clothes, The Frog Princess, and The Itsy Bitsy Spider, as well as state-of-the art modern children's books like the Octonauts series created by Meomi and the first several books in the Tales from the Chinese Zodiac series. We even have a small start at our Spanish children's library with Insectos para el Almuerzo and ¡Qué Nervios! El Primer Dia de Escuela.

These visionary publishers recognized the potential for personalized digital versions of their content. This new marketplace will not only bring them additional revenue, but reinforce the existing market for physical copies of their books. No other genre of books lends itself to this type of digital personalization. We're working with our existing publishing partners in addition to new high quality children's book publishers to expand our library - rapidly.

With live 1-800 technical support (uncommon for websites these days), A Story Before Bed is for parents away on business, remote grandparents, split families, military parents stationed away from their children, and even parents just going out for the night. Ultimately, we believe that these recordings of parents and grandparents reading stories to children may become family heirlooms passed down from generation to generation - "let me show you my grandpa reading me a story when I was little." Some early users have even used the site so children can show off their reading skills to grandma and grandpa.

Military parents can sign up for our special mailing list, which offers free and discounted recordings for men and women in the United States armed forces stationed away from their children. And everyone can follow us on Twitter for deals, sales, and new book announcements. We're currently offering recordings at a special introductory price of $6.99 per recording. We're so excited for you to try our new site. Just use the coupon code below at checkout and your story is on us. One coupon use per user:

We hope you enjoy A Story Before Bed. It's the first of its kind and there's nothing else like it on the web.

Ahhh... Relaxation

Vida Wellness Spa is a wonderful place of relaxation and top services. In the past, I had a bad experience with a french pedicure... it looked cheap; therefore, I was afraid to get one for my little sis' wedding. But after seeing my sister's mani + pedi, I had to get one. And now, I'm in love with french pedicures.

My First Conveyor Belt Sushi Bar Experience

After a full day of wedding assembly, my little sis took us out to a conveyor belt sushi bar. Total fun and yummy experience.

Creative Touches

My sister is one of the best creative minds that I know. She made sure every detail was special for her wedding guests.

My *NEW* Favorite Cupcake Shop

Sorry Cupcake Royale, I found a new favorite cupcake shop in Seattle. Now, I just wish they would expand nation wide.

There are so many scrumptious choices, but Hummingbird is by far my favorite at Trophy Cupcakes.

Matt's In The Market

As we are running errands around town for my little sis' special wedding day. We got to have lunch at the one of the best restaurant in Pike Place, Matt's In The Market. Everything is absolutely tasty! And we got a table that looks over the market.

My Favorite Beach

This is our first trip to Destin, Florida. And I'm totally in love with the beach... the white powdery sand, the clear emerald sea and the pure peace.

Cool Finds in Destin, Florida:

  • Fat Clemenza's: Authentic Italian restaurant. You have to get the cheesecake... it is a recipe passed down from his great aunt, very similiar to the italian cheesecake that we had in Florence, Italy. The pastas are wonderful, some of the pasta is imported from Italy... delicious!

  • Dewey Destin: Fresh Seafood restaurant. It may not be a fancy place, but the owner has his own fish boats that catches fish on a daily bases. And the scenery is beautiful, right off the coast.

  • Harbor Docks: Seafood restaurant. Great scenery, right off the bay.

Organic all the way!

A year and half ago, I went totally organic. I can definitely say that with my routine exercise plan and eatting organic, it has been the healthiest and fit years of my life. And I owe it to having a good and tough Fitness Together personal trainer that kicks my behind two days a week and to Whole Foods. If you don't know where to start with your organic plan, you should try out Healthy Chef Creations. I have ordered their yummy foods in the past and it helped with eliminating the hard work of purchasing, planning, organizing and portioning. All yummy foods, I especially love their wraps with this wonderful hummus side dip, which is the yummiest hummus dip that I've ever had. And I love their salmon burger and veggie burgers ... truly grilled on whole wheat buns. And all the breakfast items are delicious as well. I just got a week full of good eats from them today. Try them out!

Need Advice - Scanning photos and negatives

My local place that scans photos and negatives has closed down. I guess it is due to the economy. Does anyone know of a place that I can send my photos and negatives to, that will do a GREAT job?

There is only one company, that isn't local, that I've seen a good review for, have you had any experience with them?:

Thanks for your help!

Celine Dion concert

My wonderful hubby went to a local Celine Dion concert with me. She is an amazing singer, performer and human being. We got to see her up close, just 11 rows from center stage. Can't ask for more. :)

Online Photo Process - What is you opinion?

I've been printing some photos, photo cards and photobooks via online photo processors and local photo developers. And I would love to get your opinion. Please help...

So far, these are my reviews:

  • Shutterfly.com:   5 out of 5
    (Based on color.)
  • Snapfish.com:   4 out of 5
  • Photoworks.com:   1 out of 5
(When they first started printing photobooks and photo cards, they were wonderful, and the last batch of photobooks and photo cards that I've received have been horrible due to resolution quality.)
  • Scrapbookpictures.com:   4 out of 5
(I haven't used them in a long time.)
  • Local Wolf Camera:   1 out of 5
(I've sent them two sets of prints and they both came back with unrealistic coloring compared to the same photos printed by Shutterfly.)
  • Kolo.com:   unknown
  • TogetherBook.com:   unknown

Please give me your input, I would be so thankful!

Happy New Year - Realistic Projects

Happy New Year. With 2009, I'm not setting goals, but realistic to-do projects. I don't like the word, "goal", at this moment of life. At the same time, there are so many projects that I want to accomplish in the near future. That is why I'm using my handy "Task" application within my Microsoft Outlook to help me achieve my desired projects. So far, it has been extremely helpful in keeping track of what I want to accomplish within the next few weeks. With setting short term projects, I'm not overwhelmed but hopeful.

I wish you have a successful 2009!
